Advertising Guidelines

Postmedia has developed the following advertising rules and guidelines to ensure that Postmedia Ad Manager delivers the best possible value to our advertising clients and users.

These guidelines are not legal advice; following them does not equal legal compliance.

Advertisers are responsible for ensuring their advertising creative, including associated links within the advertising, comply with applicable laws, statutes, and regulations.

To limit confusion, we have referred to “Postmedia” throughout this Policy as a substitute for the name of the publisher (examples: National Post, Calgary Herald, Kingston Whig Standard, etc.) with whom you may be placing your advertisement.

General Content Requirements:

Any content/creative submitted to Postmedia Ad Manager must meet the following requirements:

  • Advertisements must directly relate to the content on your landing page (the URL link to your site) and represent the company, product, brand, or service advertised. For example, if the creative advertises tennis shoes and the link in the creative takes the user to a CBD product, it will be rejected.)
  • Advertisements must NOT be false, misleading, fraudulent, inaccurate, unfair, or contain gross exaggeration, unsubstantiated claims, spam, harmful code, or other disruptive content.
  • Advertisements cannot insult, harass, or threaten a user, or be vulgar, profane, abusive, defamatory, libellous, or objectionable. Targeting audiences likely offended by the product or service you are promoting violates this policy.
  • Advertisements cannot express or imply discrimination, whether directed at an individual or a group, and whether based on race, sex, creed, national origin, religious affiliation, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or language of such individual or group.
  • Advertisements must not violate the intellectual property rights of a 3rd party.
  • Postmedia logos may not be used in any advertisements and may not suggest the endorsement or partnership of Postmedia. Advertisements cannot mimic or resemble Postmedia’s graphics, text or other aspects of a Postmedia’s “look-and-feel.”
